also a suggestion, archive those .wav files to .flac files and burn those flac files to dvd-r .. it will be about 10 disks and you will have to buy a burner (or just burn to CD-R) but it would be better (in my mind) then deleteing the hard work you just did by converting cassettes...

I would convert those WAV files to FLAC and generate MD5 signatures. You can store these folders, with catalogued shows in them, on a seperate hard drive. A 60-80 GB internal drive is relatively cheap these days. A storage drive doesn't need an OS or any other files on it either.
